Tiffany Nicole Douglas

Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW

I started working as a hospital social worker on the oncology floor. I realized how much I felt I was missing the whole story of each client. I moved on to working with clients with substance use disorders and provided an understanding of substance use. I am currently trained as an EMDR-certified therapist and specialize in couples who have experienced trauma. I enjoy assisting clients in understanding the reasons behind behaviors and not just encouraging them to stop the negative behaviors.

I am a very blunt therapist and will always lay out the process and what that looks like for each individual client. The intake can be very boring, as I ask many questions to gain an understanding of how I can help. I then make sure we have a mutual agreement when creating a plan for therapy that includes how we can recognize progress in therapy. I typically do not assign homework as I understand that there is not always time for homework with all of life's demands. I specialize in trauma and couples but have worked with many different diagnoses.

I am currently a certified consultant with EMDRIA to offer consultation to other clinicians who are starting to provide EMDR trauma therapy to clients. I also am a level 2 Gottman Couples therapist, working toward becoming certified in the field. I enjoy learning about the way the brain stores negative interactions and helping clients understand.

I enjoy being able to provide these services to those who otherwise may not reach out for care. Therapy can be really difficult to start and having the opportunity to start wherever you may feel the most comfortable is really important.
